Turkmen scholars and educators visit Romania

A delegation of Turkmenistan’s academic and educational representatives paid a working visit to the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca from April 5 to 10, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The purpose of the visit was to participate in an international academic conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, held at the Institute of Turkology at Babeș-Bolyai University. The conference also commemorated the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Pyragy. As part of the event, a Romanian translation of his poetry collection Divan of Magtymguly Pyragy was presented. In their remarks, conference participants praised Turkmenistan’s efforts to honor the legacy of prominent historical figures on an international level. During their stay in Romania, the Turkmen delegation visited the National Museum of Transylvania, where they viewed ancient historical and archaeological exhibits. They also toured the Rare Books Department of Babeș-Bolyai University's Central Library and donated a copy of the book Magtymguly – Thinker of Peace authored by the President of Turkmenistan. The visit also included meetings with the Deputy Mayor of Cluj-Napoca and the Rector of Babeș-Bolyai University, the source added.
