International Logistics Terminal Opens in Almaty

A modern container terminal named Zhetysu has been officially opened in Almaty, SeaNews reported, citing the press service of “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.” The project was implemented in partnership between KTZ’s subsidiary JSC Kedentransservice and China’s Xi’an Free Trade Port Construction and Operation. On the opening day, the terminal received its first container train, which was dispatched from the Kazakhstan-China cargo terminal in Xi’an (PRC). The terminal has a design capacity of 115,000 TEU per year. Its total area is 9.8 hectares. The container yard covers 9,200 square meters and is capable of simultaneously storing up to 1,101 TEU. Warehouse facilities span 23,400 square meters, and the parking area for commercial vehicles occupies 8,900 square meters.
