Formula 1 drivers take giant Lego cars for a spin before the race
The traditional Formula 1 pilots' parade took on an unusual form in the United States, where racers completed a lap of honor in full-size Lego cars, Motor.ru reports. Each team was given a unique two-seater racing car made from the famous Lego set in life-size. Each car consists of 440 thousand Lego pieces, weighs about a ton and is capable of reaching speeds of up to 20 km/h. The project was extremely labor-intensive, with each car taking 22 thousand hours to assemble. The reaction from the drivers was enthusiastic: reigning champion Max Verstappen joked about the possibility of Lego bricks on the track after the parade, and in some teams, the drivers even fought for the right to get behind the wheel of the unusual car. Lewis Hamilton, a veteran of 19 years in Formula 1, admitted that he had never enjoyed the drivers' parade so much before.
