Tesla surpasses Audi in car sales for the first time in history

American Tesla has surpassed German premium carmaker Audi in annual sales for the first time. In 2024, Elon Musk's company sold 1,79 million electric cars, while Audi's sales fell by 12%, amounting to 1,67 million cars, gazeta.ru reports. Tesla's success is largely due to the popularity of the Model Y crossover, which is among the most popular cars in the world. The expected update of the model this year could further strengthen the American manufacturer's position. Meanwhile, German carmakers including Audi are going through tough times. The company is facing a drop in demand for premium cars in China and a decline in interest in electric vehicles in Europe after government subsidies were cut in several countries.
