Container Ship with a Capacity of 4,843 TEU Navigates the Northern Sea Route
The capacity of container ships operating on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) continues to increase, reports infranews.ru. The container ship Flying Fish 1, with a capacity of 4,843 TEU, has navigated the NSR for the first time, becoming the largest vessel to do so. Flying Fish 1 set sail from Saint Petersburg and reached the port of Qingdao in China in just six days. Onboard, it carried 664 twenty-foot containers and 1,727 forty-foot containers, all successfully delivered to China. The navigation period for vessels without an ice class in the NSR waters ended on October 15, 2024. Some clients of TELS GLOBAL used the final voyages of the year for shipping goods from China to Russia, bypassing congestion in the Far Eastern ports. The delivery was swift and executed flawlessly. With the opening of navigation next year, the company plans to offer attractive logistics solutions for transporting goods from China to Russia and Belarus.
