Increased Number of Freight Transport Requests from Kazakhstan

In the third quarter of 2024, the number of requests for freight transport from Kazakhstan to other countries on the ATI.SU international exchange platform grew by more than 3.5 times, Trend news agency reported on Thursday, citing the platform’s press service. “In the third quarter of 2024, the number of freight transport requests from Kazakhstan to other countries on the ATI.SU platform increased by 262% (more than 3.5 times). This growth was primarily driven by two major export destinations — Russia and Belarus. Specifically, requests for transport to Russia grew by 263% year-on-year and by 218% compared to the second quarter. Demand for shipments to Belarus increased by 641% year-on-year and by 195% compared to the second quarter,” the report said. According to Renata Zobova, director of the Kazakhstan branch of ATI.SU, two main factors contributed to this growth. “First, the decline in rail freight volumes between Kazakhstan and Russia, caused by a shortage of capacity on the railways of both countries. In Kazakhstan, this is partly due to the increased volume of rail transport along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, which connects China and the European Union. In the first half of the year, transit freight traffic along the Eurasian rail route through Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus increased by 66% year-on-year. As a result, Kazakh suppliers are increasingly turning to road transport for deliveries to Russia and Belarus. Second, digital logistics services are actively developing in all three countries: the increase in requests is also linked to the growing number of users of the 'ATI.SU Exchange' in the CIS countries,” she said. It was noted that other export destinations saw stable demand throughout 2024.
