Great Wall enters the ultra-premium car market

Great Wall Motor is preparing to launch a new car brand in the ultra-luxury segment, reports auto.ru. The new brand, currently known under the working name BG, will produce cars costing from a million yuan. The key engine for the new brand will be a 4,0-liter turbocharged V8. Based on it, it is planned to develop several hybrid power plants. To implement this project, the company intends to attract technical specialists from prestigious European automakers. The BG lineup will include supercars and sedans, as well as likely premium crossovers, traditionally popular in the Chinese market. The exclusivity of the new models will be ensured through advanced technologies, limited editions, wide possibilities for individualization and the use of premium finishing materials. Creating a luxury brand is seen as a strategic step to improve the company's financial performance. Great Wall's growth in 2024 was marginal compared to 2023, which lags significantly behind its industry peers.
