Delegation of Turkmen сustoms officials visits Dubai on a working trip

A delegation from the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan made a working visit to Dubai (UAE) from January 6 to 8. The trip was conducted under the framework of the Bilateral Agreement on Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters, signed on November 21, 2022, in Abu Dhabi, according to the Customs Service’s official website. The Turkmen delegation became acquainted with the activities of the UAE Federal Customs Authority and its experience in implementing the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) program. During the meeting, cooperation on the mutual recognition of authorized economic operators was discussed. The UAE side proposed an Action Plan project for further developing collaboration in this area. Dubai Customs organized visits for the Turkmen delegation to the Jebel Ali Port and the Dubai Customs Academy. At Jebel Ali Port, the delegation was introduced to an innovative radioactive scanning system for vehicles. This technology is used for inspections, checking cargo vehicles, and scanning containers. With its high penetration capability, the system thoroughly examines the contents without damaging goods or food products, while detecting prohibited items. The system can scan 150 cargo trucks per hour moving at speeds of 8-15 km/h. During their visit to the Dubai Customs Academy, the delegation explored innovative training methods in customs operations, particularly the use of virtual reality for training, the source noted.
