Turkmenistan and EAPO Strengthen Cooperation in the Field of Intellectual Property

On October 16, 2024, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between Myahri Byashimova, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Grigory Ivliev, the head of the Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO), as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The meeting took place within the framework of the Regional Seminar on Industrial Design Protection. The parties discussed the current cooperation and future prospects between Turkmenistan and EAPO, with special emphasis on the fact that Turkmenistan was the first country to join the Eurasian Patent Convention. The Turkmen side provided insights into the implementation of the national Program for the Development of the Intellectual Property System for 2021-2025, which aims to improve intellectual property protection legislation and harmonize it with international standards. Participants discussed opportunities for expanding practical cooperation, including the training of specialists and legal aspects of intellectual property protection. Following the talks, both parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial relations.
