In Turkmenistan, a tribute was paid to the first President, Saparmurat Niyazov
A ceremonial event was held in Turkmenistan in honor of the 33rd anniversary of the country's independence, during which a tribute was paid to the first President of Turkmenistan, Saparmurat Niyazov. The event took place at the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, reports TDH. The ceremony began with the laying of flowers at the memorial in the mausoleum next to the mosque, attended by the head of state, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, the Speaker of the Mejlis, deputy prime ministers of the government, heads of diplomatic missions, and representatives of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan. Following this, the Mufti of Turkmenistan recited the Ayat-Tawir prayer for the repose of the deceased, paying respects to Saparmurat Niyazov. During a conversation with diplomats, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of the recently held Halk Maslahaty meeting, which highlighted the triumph of national democracy. He also stressed Turkmenistan's active engagement with global states under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. After the flower-laying ceremony, the President and the National Leader proceeded to the Turkmenbashi Ruhy Mosque, where they examined the architectural features and landscaping of the area. The mosque, which can accommodate 10,000 people, underwent major renovations with the support of the President of Turkmenistan. The event concluded with a sadaqah (charitable feast) in memory of all the deceased, where the Mufti of Turkmenistan recited verses from the Holy Quran and offered prayers for the prosperity of the country and the well-being of its people. Participants of the sadaqah expressed their gratitude for the arrangements and wished success in all initiatives aimed at the development of Turkmenistan.
