Foundation Laid for Güneşli Children and Youth Center in Ashgabat
The foundation stone for the Güneşli Children and Youth Center was laid on Sunday in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, in a ceremony dedicated to International Children's Day, according to the TDH news agency. The ceremony was attended by the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, members of the government, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the mayor (häkim) of Ashgabat, as well as representatives of public organizations and the media. The event was marked by a festive atmosphere, with performances by cultural figures, artists, and children's dance ensembles. Representatives of the older generation were the first to symbolically place shovels of concrete into the foundation, followed by youth participants. The ceremony concluded with the release of colorful balloons into the sky. The new center will provide children with opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills. Plans include the creation of career-oriented clubs, sports and play areas, cultural facilities, an amphitheater, and a training ground for learning traffic rules. The center will also house the State Children’s Library named after Bazar Amanov, equipped with modern digital technologies. A distinctive feature of the project will be an observatory with a telescope for observing outer space. The completion of the construction is scheduled for May 2027.
