Turkmenistan plans to modernize the railway sector

Turkmenistan aims to modernize its railway system, including its electrification. This was discussed at the latest Cabinet of Ministers meeting, where plans for the development of the transport sector were reviewed, reports TDH. The Director General of the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers, Mammetkhan Chakiyev, presented a report on efforts to improve railway transportation. According to his report, measures are being implemented to modernize the sector as part of the "President of Turkmenistan's Program for the Socio-Economic Development of the Country for 2022–2028." President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of modernizing the railway system, its electrification, and the training of specialists. He also noted the need to incorporate international expertise in this field. The head of state approved the proposal aimed at improving the railway sector's operations at the international level and instructed the Agency's director to carry out the necessary work.
