Russia’s new truck market continues to decline
From January to May 2025, a total of 20,038 new trucks were sold in Russia, marking a 49% drop compared to the same period last year, according to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. In April alone, 4,614 new trucks were sold — down 58% year-on-year and 5% compared to March 2025. Truck sales in Russia have been declining for six consecutive months since November 2024. The last recorded growth occurred in October 2024, when sales rose 2% year-on-year. Since then, the rate of decline has accelerated: while the year-end drop was around 30%, it reached 48% in February and nearly 60% in both March and April. In the light commercial vehicle segment, 34,037 units were sold in the first four months of 2025 — 16% fewer than in the same period last year. In April, 9,756 light trucks were sold, down 16% from April 2024 but up 16% compared to March 2025.
