Honor Guard Battalion of Turkmenistan takes part in Victory Day parade in Moscow
The Honor Guard Battalion of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan marched in formation across Moscow’s Red Square as part of the military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Turkmen servicemen participated in the large-scale event alongside units of the Russian Armed Forces and military representatives from other countries, according to TDH. As previously reported, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov attended the parade in person during his working visit to Moscow, made at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The participation of Turkmen servicemen in the Victory Day parade stands as a symbol of deep respect for the shared historical legacy and highlights the significant contribution of the Turkmen people to the defeat of fascism. Thousands of Turkmen citizens fought bravely on the front lines of the Great Patriotic War, demonstrating courage and high morale. For their valor, 104 Turkmenistanis were awarded the title “Hero of the Soviet Union,” while 19 were named full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory. Many thousands more received wartime orders and medals. The names of all the war heroes — both fallen and those who returned victorious — have been immortalized in the multi-volume collections Hatyra (“Remembrance”) and Şöhrat (“Glory”).
