President of Turkmenistan Holds Security Council Meeting

President of Turkmenistan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, held a regular meeting of the State Security Council to review the performance of the military and law enforcement agencies for the period from January to April 2025, according to TDH. Defense Minister Begench Gundogdyev reported on the implementation of the Armed Forces Development Program, improvements in service conditions for military personnel, and the enhancement of officer professionalism. The President emphasized the importance of strengthening the country’s defense capabilities in accordance with Turkmenistan’s strictly defensive Military Doctrine and gave instructions for organizing events dedicated to Victory Day. During the meeting, Prosecutor General Begmurat Mukhammedov presented a report on oversight of law enforcement and the integration of digital technologies into the work of the prosecutor’s office. The Head of State signed a Resolution “On the Appointment and Dismissal of Prosecutors” and instructed that strict control be maintained over the implementation of laws and legal regulations throughout the country. Heads of security agencies – Minister of Internal Affairs Muhammet Khyddyrov, Chairman of the Supreme Court Begench Khodjamgulyev, Minister of National Security Nobatguly Atagarayev, and Head of the State Border Service Yazgeldi Nuryyev – reported on the activities of their respective departments. Special attention was paid to road safety, fire prevention measures during the summer period, improvements to the judicial system, and the protection of national borders. The President noted that Turkmenistan’s borders are “boundaries of friendship and brotherhood with neighboring countries.” Also speaking at the meeting were Minister of Adalat Merettagan Taganov, Chairman of the State Customs Service Mukhammetguly Khudaykulyyev, and Chairman of the State Migration Service Amanmukhammet Sazakov. They reported on efforts to improve the legislative framework, optimize cross-border cargo flow, and introduce digital technologies into agency operations. Summing up the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that in accordance with Turkmenistan’s Military Doctrine, measures are being implemented to maintain a high level of national security and ensure the integrity of the neutral state. Relevant decisions were made on all agenda items.
