Turkmenistan and TURKSOY discussed prospects for cultural cooperation

In Ashgabat, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and a delegation led by the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev. The agenda of the meeting included current issues of cooperation and promising areas of partnership between Turkmenistan and TURKSOY, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry. 2024 is a landmark year for Turkmenistan in the Turkic-speaking world. This year, significant dates are being celebrated in TURKSOY: the declaration of “The Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World - Magtymguly Fragi” and the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great classic of Eastern literature. Also, the ancient Turkmen city of Anau was elected the cultural capital of the Turkic world. Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the organization of upcoming joint events aimed at popularizing the creativity of Magtymguly Fragi and the cultural significance of the city of Anau. At the end of the meeting, the parties emphasized the fruitful nature of interaction aimed at preserving and popularizing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic-speaking peoples.
