Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Signs Book of Condolences at the U.S. Embassy

Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, visited the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to sign the book of condolences following the passing of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. January 9 has been declared a national day of mourning in the United States in memory of Jimmy Carter. Today, a state funeral will be held in Washington, D.C., to honor the former president. For 30 days, flags at U.S. government institutions across the country and abroad, including diplomatic missions, will be flown at half-staff. The 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 100. He served as the nation’s leader from 1977 to 1981. The U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat expressed its gratitude on social media to everyone who visited the embassy over the past week to pay their respects to the late former president.
