Uzbekistan plans to develop transit routes through Turkmenistan to Europe

Uzbekistan plans to develop transit routes through Turkmenistan to Europe. The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan is working on diversifying international transport routes, including the creation of new transit corridors through Turkmenistan, according to the news agency nCa, citing Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov. Key transport corridors have been identified as the routes Turkmenistan–Iran–Turkey–European Union and Turkmenistan–Azerbaijan–Georgia–Europe. These transit corridors aim to ensure the stability of foreign trade operations. To ensure the effective operation of the new routes, Uzbekistan plans to sign new international road transport agreements with Belgium, Armenia, Serbia, Norway, Croatia, and Albania. Existing agreements with China, Iran, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania are also set to be revised. Plans include the implementation of "green corridor" systems to simplify customs procedures and expedite cargo transit, as well as mutual recognition of transport documentation.
