Volkswagen and Xpeng will create a network of charging stations in China

Volkswagen and Xpeng have entered into a strategic agreement to jointly develop electric transport infrastructure in China. The companies intend to merge and expand their charging station networks, auto.ru reports. At the first stage of cooperation, the automakers will provide mutual access to the existing infrastructure, which already includes more than 20 thousand charging points in 420 cities in China. This will allow owners of electric vehicles of both brands to use the entire unified network of stations. In the future, the partners plan not only to expand their geographic presence, but also to launch the production of ultra-fast chargers under a new joint brand. It is worth noting that this project is a continuation of the companies' strategic partnership, which began in 2023, when Volkswagen invested 700 million USD in acquiring a 5% stake in Xpeng.
