The President of Turkmenistan and the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia discussed expanding economic cooperation
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk, who arrived in Ashgabat on an official visit to participate in a meeting of the co-chairs of the Turkmen-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, TDH reports. During the meeting, there was a productive exchange of views on the priority areas of bilateral cooperation. It was noted that Turkmen-Russian relations, based on the principles of sincere friendship, trust, and equality, are currently developing successfully in all directions. The political dialogue is being steadily strengthened, and active inter-parliamentary cooperation is taking place. Productive connections have been established between Turkmenistan and the regions and entities of the Russian Federation. "The key area of Turkmen-Russian cooperation was identified as the trade and economic sector. For many years, the Russian Federation has been one of Turkmenistan's leading trade partners. The Intergovernmental Commission is operating effectively, coordinating efforts on the full range of bilateral partnership issues," the report says. Special attention was given to the humanitarian sphere, particularly cooperation in education, science, culture, and healthcare. In this context, both countries reaffirmed their intention to expand mutually beneficial and multi-faceted cooperation, which, based on historically established ties, meets the long-term interests and strategy of interstate relations.
