A student from Turkmenistan participated in the World Summit of Young Scientists in China
Shagul Bakiyeva, a student from Turkmenistan, became one of the key figures of the 2024 World Young Scientists Summit (WYSS), which opened on November 15 at Wenzhou Medical University (WMU). The young researcher represented the university's international students and received personal recognition from a Nobel laureate. "Shagul is a shining example of the spirit of WYSS, which unites cultures and science across the globe. With her excellent academic performance and passion for her profession, she actively shares her attachment to WMU and pride in her homeland, Turkmenistan," noted Nobel Prize laureate Michel Hartmut after meeting with the students. During the summit, the Turkmen student organized a meeting between her peers and Michel Hartmut, where they discussed the prospects for medical advancements and the support of young talents. Additionally, the university president, academician Li Xiaokun, personally presented Shagul with a book on his research in fibroblast growth factors. "WMU has given me so much—knowledge, inspiration, and opportunities. I proudly carry these values while remaining true to my roots," Shagul Bakiyeva shared with a correspondent from Turkmenportal, emphasizing the importance of international education for advancing medical science in Turkmenistan. The summit, which brought together outstanding academics and promising young scientists from around the world, served as a platform to strengthen international scientific collaboration and exchange experiences among representatives of various countries, including Turkmenistan.
